I have a scanner at home. Can I scan my originals myself and send you electronic files?
Yes, in fact a 100% electronic transfer is preferable. There is no time or money lost in shipping and you even save a few bucks in scanning costs. Consider however that the better the "raw material" we get the better our results are. We recommend doing all scans at 600 dpi (optical) on a quality scanner.

Is it safe to ship fragile photos to you for scanning?
In general yes. The scanning process will not harm the images. Shipping has an inherent risk of damage or loss but you can do a lot to make this risk minimal. Always ship with a quality shipper (we use FedEx and UPS for return shipment) and be sure to package the images correctly. A good way is to put them between 2 or 4 sheets of heavy duty cardboard, taped shut all the way around to prevent them from sliding to the edge. If your images are extremely fragile or valuable we suggest you contact us for shipping suggestions before shipping it - or see below.
I don't have a scanner but still don't want to ship my originals - what do I do?
Many local print shops offer quality scanning at very affordable prices. Take your originals there to be scanned and ask for the scanned files on a CD. Then you can either upload the files from the CD or send the CD to us. If you contact us we can even try to help you locate a local business that can do the scanning for you.
How do you determine the cost for a restoration?
There are some general guidelines on our pricing page, but so many factors (damage, size, special requests etc) determine the final "categorization" and price that there is no fixed formula. We price each project separately and only after seing the images. All quotes are of course free of charge and with no obligation - but we think you will find our prices very competitive.
I am doing genealogy research on my family and have a whole collection of old photographs to be restored. Do you have "volume pricing"?
Yes. In general refer to our "Multiple Image Discount" for pricing. But for larger collections feel free to contact us and we will work out a special deal for you.
How can I find out how many bonus credits I have earned?
Send an email to sales@photoedits.com and we will send you the information right away. We don't offer an automated feature for looking it up online as we do not store any information about our customers on our web-server.
What's up with that "slogan" of yours that says "Memories. Restored. Forever."?
Well, it is one of those sayings that have dual meaning. Your photos represent your memories. So when you restore your photos you also restore and revive your memories. The "Forever" part comes from the fact that once you have a digital restoration it will last forever (if properly backed up, stored and copied to new media once in a while). But the "Forever" part also hints at what happens if you don't get your precious images digitally restored. All too soon the fragile paper reproductions will be gone - "Forever"!
